Pärnu Koidula Gümnaasium is a school with long traditions and a great alumni. The history of the school goes back to the year 1733, in 1944 the school was named after Estonian poetess Lydia Koidula. Since the year 2015 the school is a state school consisting only of forms 10-12, with the primary goal of preparing students for university.
There are five fields of study: mathematics-physics, realities, natural science, etrepreneurship and European studies. The curriculum of mathematics-physics or A-class emphasises the study of maths, physics and informatics. The curriculum of realities gives opportunities to develop academic or engineering technological practices which enable students to study in both Estonian or foreign universities. Students also get basic knowledge in communication skills such as public relations and multimedia. In the curriculum of natural science there are additional courses in chemistry and biology focusing on medical profession and natural environment. In the European studies students prepare for academic or professional higher education in humanities or social sciences in both Estonian and foreign universities, primarily in reputable European educational institutions. French is taught in A1 level. The curriculum of entrepreneurship offers students modern management and communication skills, prepares students to stugy in both Estonian and foreign universities. In addition to basic classes there are plenty of opportunities for students to take electives in various areas of study. This wide range of options gives students choices for their education.
Student council is very active, a school newspaper and radio are functioning. Students can join their own mixed choir and folk dance group.
